Kemi Adegoroye is a soul and jazz-inspired singer-songwriter based in the DC Metro Area. With versatile vocals that range from dulcet to thundering, her performances have been likened to those of Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughan, and Roberta Flack. She has performed live on WUSA9 and WPFW 89.3 FM and performs regularly as a solo artist and as the frontwoman of DC-based jazz and R&B band Terra Firma the Band.

On Valentine's Day 2020, Kemi released her first original single, The Man Who Stole the Moon, inspired by the 2010 movie Despicable Me starring Steve Carell. A year later, she became a 2021 Wammie Awards Finalist for the release of The Man Who Stole the Moon. Her debut EP, For the Record, was her first collection of original music, and earned her two finalist spots in the 2022 Wammie Awards for Best R&B/Soul Album and Best R&B/Soul Artist.

In August 2022, a capella group The Capital Hearings honored Kemi as the Featured Songwriter for their 2022 Songwriter Showcase. Later that year, Kemi followed up the release of For the Record EP with Terra Firma the Band’s debut album, Live with Terra Firma, recorded live at Jammin Java, a staple of the DMV music scene. The album features crowd favorite covers and new original music, distinctive for Terra Firma’s genre-bending sound and Kemi’s arresting lyrics.

Kemi’s latest new singles include: R&B bops In My Corner and its remix In My Corner (Stripped) and the intimate and soulful those rainy days. In My Corner and In My Corner (Stripped) pay tribute to R&B hits made popular by iconic artists like Brandy, TLC, and Tatyana Ali, featuring a rhythmic groove produced by DC-based instrumentalist Chris Hon. those rainy days is a quiet and introspective song with musical theatre and neo-soul influences. Each new single signals the expansive variety of genres in Kemi’s growing discography.
